Fallback Price Lists​

Price lists can now be based on another price list. When creating or editing a price list, you can optionally select a fallback price list: If the price for an item is missing from the active price list, the price from the fallback list is automatically applied. This means that a retailer or country-specific price list that differs only for a few items no longer needs to be maintained in its entirety.

Image Stacks: Disabling Layers and Additional Order Images​

Layers and print areas can be disabled without deleting them. They are retained along with all images and rules and are simply no longer rendered, allowing you to quickly check what a single layer contributes to the overall image. In addition, there are additional order images: For each image, you can specify which layers it contains, as well as the format, resolution, and optionally a transparent background. In addition to the view image, this creates, for example, a cropped image of the product for the online store. It is the counterpart to the screenshot cameras in 3D.

Multiple Selection for List Attributes​

List attributes now support multiple selection. You can enable the option for an attribute to allow multiple values to be selected at once and, optionally, specify the maximum number of selections allowed. A typical scenario: From a selection of 100 fabrics, the customer may request a maximum of five samples to be sent. Previously, this had to be implemented using individual checkboxes or a component list. In the rule engine, multiple selection behaves like multiple checkboxes; in the summary and PDF, the values are output as comma-separated; in the Shop API, the value is an array.

Language Selector in the Configurator​

For multilingual configurators, there is a new layout component called “Language Selector”. It is placed in the layout editor and appears only where the administrator places it. All content languages created in the project are available for selection in the order defined in the admin panel. The switch takes place without a page: labels, attribute and value texts, as well as notes, are switched instantly. Previously, the language was set upon loading and could not be changed afterward.

3D Printing Editor​

A completely new 3D printing editor has been introduced. The image upload interface has been fundamentally redesigned and now offers a more intuitive user experience. Images and text can now be placed even more easily directly onto 3D objects—ideal for personalized products, engravings, and custom labels.

Layout & Design Overhaul​

The layout and design options have been comprehensively revised. Two completely new layouts in a compact format are now available, which are particularly well-suited for products with smaller product visualizations. These new layouts optimize the display on various screen sizes and offer greater flexibility in design.

Minimum Order Value​

Configurators can now be set with a minimum order value. This allows products to be made available for order only once a certain total order value is reached—useful for B2B applications or for products whose production is only cost-effective above a minimum amount. The minimum order value is clearly displayed in the configurator.

JTL Plugin​

A new plugin for JTL-Shop has been developed. K3 configurators can now be seamlessly integrated into JTL-Shops. The plugin allows configurators to be embedded in product pages and configurations to be transferred to the checkout process.

Faster Uploading of Multiple 3D Models​

Many customer projects require the creation of numerous 3D models. This process is now significantly more efficient: The file selection dialog opens immediately and allows for multiple selections. Optionally, individual files can be selected, customized, and viewed in 3D—with data that is already pre-filled in a meaningful way.

Undo/Redo in the Front End​

The configurator now offers a much more user-friendly experience for customers: Going forward, users can easily undo or redo their steps—similar to professional design tools. Not only is the selection saved, but the entire state, including rule-based changes, is preserved. This ensures that configurations remain stable and traceable. The result: a better user experience, easier handling, and greater trust—which directly leads to more sales.

To enable this, the component <UndoRedoControls/> must be inserted in the layout editor.

Make Price Display Dynamically Disableable​

For stores with B2B and B2C scenarios, price display in the configurator can be flexibly controlled. The goal is, for example, to ensure that prices do not appear on the regular website, but they do appear in the store. Instead of complicated rules or duplicate price lists, you can now use the query parameter prices=true/false when launching the configurator to control whether prices are displayed. This applies to all parts of the display—features, action buttons, the summary, and PDFs.

Toggle Dimension Chain Display​

Dimension chains (dimensions) in the configurator will be displayed more flexibly in the future. To this end, a new option is being introduced that allows you to toggle between transparent and colored displays.

Background: In some designs, colored dimension lines disrupt the visual appearance or overlap important content, while in other cases a clearly visible, colored display is desired—for example, for better readability or to highlight elements.

The new option therefore enables dynamic customization depending on the intended use or context. This keeps the configurator visually customizable and user-friendly at the same time, without the need to create separate variants.

Price lists for different countries, currencies, and retailers.​

You can now create as many price lists as you like, each with its own currency. This makes it easy to display country-specific prices, dealer prices, or different currencies. When launching a configurator, select the appropriate price list via a parameter, and in both the editor and the preview, you can verify that the prices are displayed correctly. The default price list remains as the base and can also have its own currency.

New Table Views​

Improved clarity for content such as rules, models, materials, and images. Entries can now be sorted via drag-and-drop or, alternatively, displayed alphabetically. Additionally, tags with a search function are available, and the display can be flexibly switched between tile and table views.

New Setup Wizard for Configurators​

Creating new configurators has been significantly simplified. After registration, you’ll be guided directly through an interactive wizard that helps you select the visualization (3D, images, or form), layout, and design. During configuration, you can already see your configurator in action in real time. An optional AI chat helps you find the right configuration for your product.

AI-Assisted Configurator Creation​

In addition to templates, a completely new option is now available: the “AI Assistant”. In an interactive chat, the AI guides you through targeted questions about your product and automatically creates a suitable configurator. The results are visualized in real time—you can immediately see how steps, features, rules, and designs take shape. The process can be adjusted or canceled at any time.

Revamped Rule Editor​

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve usability, the rule editor has been fundamentally redesigned. The new interface offers a clearer structure with three intuitive buttons: “Edit Rule” for name, description, and advanced settings; “Add Feature” for features or steps; and “Add Action” with the familiar grouped action menu.

New Starter Product​

With the new Starterproduct for €49/month, we offer a cost-effective entry-level solution that includes all the features of K3 Basic—with the exception of 3D views. One-Click Steps​

New one-click functionality allows you to complete a configuration step with just one click. This significantly speeds up configurations and improves usability for standard configurations. Administrators can specify which steps are available as one-click options.

Configuration Table: Save Fields​

Users can now permanently save their individual column configurations in the configuration table. Sorting, column widths, and column visibility are automatically saved and restored on the next visit. This enables a personalized work environment for each user.

Analytics -> Google Tag Manager​

With this release, K3’s Analytics integration is deprecated. Dynamic Light Sources​

New dynamic lighting models have been added: point light, spot light, directional light, ambient, and sky. Light sources can now be placed and aligned directly in the configurator and controlled via rules or anchors. Custom HDR and EXR files can be used as ambient light and optionally displayed as a background. Visual aids are available in edit mode to facilitate the alignment of light sources. This also makes it easy to create a suitable night mode.

Web Component​

The K3 Configurator can now be used as a native web component. This allows it to be embedded directly into any page using an HTML tag—without iframes or cross-origin restrictions. This simplifies integration into existing layouts, improves SEO, and reduces load time. All known URL parameters (e.g., lang, dealer, code) can be passed directly as HTML attributes.

Dealer Accounts​

Dealer accounts can now be activated or deactivated directly in the backend. Instead of a manual request, access can be granted or revoked with the click of a button—including a confirmation dialog. For existing licenses, billing occurs automatically.

3D Download​

You can now export the current scene as a .glb file directly in the backend via the new “Tools” menu. The exported 3D file can also be optionally attached when saving the configuration. Ideal for AR applications, client approvals, or further technical processing.

Deactivate Values​

Values in the value table can now be explicitly deactivated. When creating new values, a pop-up alerts you to missing rule assignments, including a direct link to the affected rules. In addition, the rule overview now shows directly on each rule card whether any warnings are present. The goal is a clearer, more explicit workflow for (temporarily) deactivating selection values.

Further improvements to the Shopify app​

When products are combined in the shopping cart, the weight can now be calculated based on the individual products.
Additionally, items can now be added directly to the shopping cart without being combined, even if the Shopify SKU is used as the product identifier. This was not possible before.
Finally, the Shopify app now uses the latest Shopify APIs. This requires granting an additional permission. This is done simply by clicking on the app itself once within the Shopify store.

Improved Loading Display​

While the configurator is loading, the user should see a meaningful display and not be left waiting.
We have therefore ensured that, in cases where the configurator is embedded in a webpage via an IFrame, the surrounding webpage can display engaging content while the configurator is loading.
To achieve this, K3 sends specific events to the webpage when loading begins or ends.

New Design of the Rule Editor​

A rule can generally consist of any number of columns. These columns can also trigger different actions.
To better highlight this, we have completely redesigned the rule column editor. You can now add, modify, and delete individual columns as needed.

Reducing AR Model Sizes on iOS​

We were able to significantly reduce the size of model exports in Augmented Reality mode on iOS. The model now loads much faster.

Accessibility​

We are now working on making the configurator front end accessible.
We will continue to improve this iteratively.

Improved error messages for inconsistent rules​

In K3, complex validation rules can sometimes lead to situations where no selection options can be offered to the user.
In such cases, we now display a clear error message.

• If a step or feature has a camera and you then navigate to one without a camera, the camera is now retained.
• Sometimes a white scene appears when switching from an orthographic camera and back again.
• After a completion action was executed, the camera was sometimes incorrectly positioned.
• The RAL color designation overlaps the text.
• The size of labels in dimension chains was displayed incorrectly when using an orthographic camera.
• The old option to completely removing features via a rule has been removed.
• In the order overview, the help text "About the Feature" is now also translatable.
• You are warned if you exit the Options dialog without saving.

• The selection of materials that a color action can affect is now correctly read from the model.
