How can I add dimensions to my product in 3D?

Insert a dimension chain

The K3 includes a dynamisches Modell called "Dimension Chain" for this purpose. Add this model to your configurator.

You can now display it in your rules.

  • Create a rule for displaying models or use an existing one.
  • Specify the start and end points of the dimension under
    Loading...
    .
  • If you wish, you can also visuell verschieben the dimension.

You can assign the following parameters to the dimension chain:

  • Color: of the lines
  • Start and end points: Here you can also Berechnungen.
  • Line thickness
  • Text: Normally, the dimension displays the distance from the start point to the end point. However, you can select Override Automatic Dimension and then enter a number yourself. Here you can also perform a Berechnung, e.g., something like Math.round(Sofa.Width) ("Sofa" is a selection attribute here, "Width" is a Attribut specified by its values).

Dimension Chains and Performance

Dimension chains align themselves to the camera and are continuously recalculated in the process. If a large number of dimension chains are displayed simultaneously—for example, in large shelving systems with hundreds of components— this can noticeably slow down the 3D scene.

  • Only display dimension chains where they truly help the customer.
  • A good approach is to make the display controllable via a Yes/No feature (“Show Dimensions”).
  • If you want to check whether the dimension chains are causing the scene to lag, briefly turn them off and move the camera again.
