Generate a Bill of Materials for Configured Items
Question
> After completing a configuration, I would like to generate a list of all included items (bill of materials)—either as a PDF or as a spreadsheet export. How do I set this up?
Answer
K3 supports two output methods for the bill of materials:
Option 1: Bill of Materials in the PDF Template
Open the PDF template under Options → PDF → Template. The bill of materials is output there via the section labeled bom (Bill of Materials).
If your template does not yet contain this section or only outputs characteristics, add the bom block at the desired location in the template.
Option 2: Bill of Materials as an Excel attachment via email
Alternatively, you can attach an Excel spreadsheet containing the bill of materials to an internal email or a customer email:
- Open the desired follow-up action (internal email or customer email)
- Enable the Excel attachment in the action settings
- The generated Excel spreadsheet contains the bill of materials with all items from the configuration
Option 3: Transfer the bill of materials to ERP via webhook
For full ERP integration, item data can be transferred via webhook. The webhook automatically sends the configuration data (including the bill of materials) to a target system as soon as a request is submitted.
