Price Submitted Differs from Price Displayed

Question

> The configurator displays a different price than the one our store receives when the configuration is applied. The difference is roughly equal to the sales tax. Why is that?

Answer

A difference equal to the tax rate almost always occurs because the gross price is used in one place and the net price in another.

Where the difference comes from

  • In the price list, you use Prices are to specify whether the entered amounts are net or gross, and you set the default tax rate.
  • The display in the configurator is determined by the layout component <Price />. Unless otherwise specified, it displays the price as it is maintained in the price list; using vat="gross" or vat="net", you can force one of the two formats.
  • In the Shop API and Webhooks, K3 always provides both values per item and for the total price: priceNet and priceGross.

If the price list is maintained on a net basis but displayed on a gross basis in the configurator, and the receiving system subsequently adopts the net value, the VAT amount is exactly the difference between the two amounts.

What to Check

  1. Open the price list you’re using and check Prices are as well as the default tax rate. Make sure you’re actually referring to the price list used to launch the configurator—a test price list may have different settings.
  2. Check which value your shop or plugin uses: priceNet or priceGross.
  3. For an exit action of the type Send to Shop, specify under Price Transfer whether the net or gross amount is transferred. If no selection is made, the price list’s default setting applies.
Rounding

K3 calculates net and gross amounts per item and rounds them to two decimal places according to commercial standards. The total price is the sum of the already rounded items. Minor deviations compared to a subsequent recalculation of the total amount are therefore normal.
