Camera Jumps When Changing a Feature
Question
> Every time a user selects or changes a feature, the 3D view jumps back to the default perspective. This is disruptive, especially if the user has previously rotated the view manually.
Answer
This behavior occurs when no static camera focus is set on the feature. K3 then automatically refocuses the entire model after every change.
Set a static camera on the feature
- Open the relevant feature in the Editor
- Navigate to the feature’s Camera Settings
- Enable the “Static Focus” option (or static camera)
- Position the 3D view to the desired perspective and save it as a camera setting
After making this setting, the saved camera view remains stable when the feature is selected—the model is no longer automatically refocused.
Static cameras are particularly suitable for features where a specific detail needs to be highlighted (e.g., selecting the color of a specific area). If you do not want to focus on a specific detail, you can leave the option disabled—in this case, K3 will refocus the model to the overall view after each selection.
