Fabric or material appears too dark

Question

My fabric or material looks darker in the configurator than in the template. Even when zooming in, the coloring does not change. In the preview (thumbnail) it looks more realistic. What is the reason for this?

Answer

The difference is due to the lighting in the 3D scene.

Think of it like a photo shoot: If you set up too few lights or choose too short an exposure time, even the most beautiful fabric will look dark. However, you can also overexpose - a little experimentation is required here.

Add a light model to the scene. This is the more flexible option - you can also use it to create a night mode or different lighting moods, for example.

Solution 2: Static scene lighting

You can also adjust the lighting of the 3D scene directly. This is a little more technical, but gives you full control over the light sources.
