Configurator Won't Start – WebGL Error

Question

> I open the configurator, but it won't start. The browser displays the error message "Error creating WebGL context." This happens in multiple browsers at the same time.

Answer

The message “Error creating WebGL context” means that the browser was unable to start the 3D rendering because it could not communicate with the graphics card.

Possible Causes

This is a technical error that can be triggered by various factors:

  • The graphics card is temporarily unresponsive (e.g., after prolonged use or after waking from sleep mode)
  • A browser update has temporarily disabled WebGL support
  • The browser cache contains inconsistent graphics data

What You Can Do

  1. Clear the browser cache: Open your browser’s settings and clear the cache and cookies. Then try loading the configurator again.
  2. Restart the browser: Close the browser completely and reopen it.
  3. Try a different browser: Open the configurator in a different browser (e.g., Chrome or Firefox) to determine whether the problem is browser-specific.
  4. Restart your computer: If the error occurs in all browsers, restarting your computer may help, as this also resets the graphics card.
Why does this sometimes resolve on its own?

WebGL errors are often temporary and depend on the graphics card’s status within the operating system. After a restart or switching to a different browser, the 3D rendering usually returns to normal.

If the problem persists

If the error occurs persistently and on multiple devices, please contact support and provide the following information:

  • Browsers used and their versions
  • Operating system (Windows/macOS, version)
  • Whether the error occurs on all devices on the network

Additional Information

  • WebGL not available
  • 3D rendering not working
