Display feature in the 3D scene (e.g. dimension chain)

Question

How can I display a specific feature (e.g. the dimension chain) directly in the 3D scene, regardless of the current configuration step?

Answer

You can display a feature (e.g. a checkbox or selection) directly in the 3D scene by placing it as a so-called StandaloneVariable in the layout. This is useful for the dimension chain, for example, which the user should be able to show or hide at any time.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Assign a key for the feature

    • Open the desired feature in feature management
    • Assign a unique name in the Key field, e.g. masskette
  2. Remove feature from the step

    • In the feature options under "Display", check the box "Hide from step". This means that the feature is no longer displayed in the sidebar.
  3. Place standalone variable in layout

    • Open the layout of your configurator (e.g. under Ändern Sie das Design > Desktop-Layout > Anpassen)
    • Insert the following code at the desired position (e.g. under <BotLeft>):
<StandaloneVariable variableKey="masskette" sticky="true" />
  • variableKey is the key that you assigned in the first step
  • sticky="true" ensures that the element always remains visible, even when the user navigates through the steps

Example:

<BotLeft>
<StandaloneVariable variableKey="masskette" sticky="true" />
</BotLeft>

Hints

  • You can display any number of features in the 3D scene in this way
  • The standalone variable can be placed anywhere in the layout (e.g. also <TopRight>, <BotRight>, ...)
  • The feature is then always visible and operable regardless of the steps
