Models, Slots, and Props

The plugin is based on three concepts. Once you understand these, the rest will become clear.

Dynamic Models

A model is a single 3D element—a roof, a wall, an awning. Each model has a type: the identifier by which K3 loads it from the plugin catalog. And each model has props—settings that determine its appearance and behavior.

You create models in the editor via Dynamic Model, selecting the type from the plug-in catalog. The basic principle of dynamic models is described under Dynamische 3D-Modelle.

Slots

Slots are attachment points in the 3D scene where models are attached. The design model veranda provides them.

A model can be placed in a slot in two ways:

  1. As a default assignment. You assign a default model directly to a slot in the dynamic model. This model is active immediately when the configurator starts, without the need for a rule. Example: A glass covering is assigned to slot konstruktion-slot-eindeckung by default.
  2. Via an action rule. If the slot’s content should be based on the customer’s selection—such as slats instead of glass—create a Regel that assigns the new model to the slot. This overrides the default model.

The slot ID belongs in the action rule, not in the child model’s model dialog. The tables below serve as a reference for the default assignments and for rules.

Front wallkonstruktion-slot-wand-vorneall wall types
Rear wallkonstruktion-slot-wand-hintenall wall types

Both construction types — veranda (single-slope roof) and qubus (flat roof) — use the same slot IDs.

Assembly Slots

Additional wall elements can be stacked on a Sichtschutzwand. These slots are also assigned via an action rule:

Assembly SideSlot ID
Right Sideveranda-slot-aufbau-rechts
Left Sideveranda-slot-aufbau-links
Frontveranda-slot-aufbau-vorne
Backveranda-slot-aufbau-hinten

Props

Each model has props—numbers, text, or colors—that control its appearance. You can assign a prop in two ways:

  • fixed, as a value directly in the model dialog, or
  • as a feature reference, linked to a K3 feature. In this case, the end customer sets the value themselves via the configurator interface.

K3 stores numeric values as Berechnung. A fixed value is simply 4 for 4 meters; a feature reference is written as variable('Breite').Wert.

Switch props only recognize 0 and 1—that is, No and Yes. In the dialog, they appear as radio buttons.
