How do I allow a user to enter a number, such as a width?
Create a Numeric Feature
- Open the configurator editor.
- If you haven’t already, click Loading...to create the first configuration step.
- Now click Loading.... This creates a feature. The left sidebar will open.
- First, give the new attribute the name that your customer should see.
- Now you can select the display for the new attribute. For a numeric input, select Loading...
- Click on Loading....
- Here you can configure several settings:
- Unit: For example, “meters” or “watts”
- Minimum value, maximum value: The range of values for the numeric input
- Optional default value: The default value used when the configurator starts. If your customer clicks in the field, the default value is highlighted and overwritten by the next entry. This prevents an entry of “120” from accidentally becoming “1200.”
- Decimal places: How many decimal places can be entered.
- Increment: The increments in which the number can be selected, such as 100, 150, 200. In this case, also select “Show buttons”; helpful + and - icons will then appear in the number input field.
- Click on Loading.... The new selection appears immediately in the configurator.
Display Formats
The Number field offers two different display formats:
Input Field (Default)
The classic text input for numbers:
- With optional unit (e.g., "cm", "kg")
- Validation against min/max values
- Optionally with +/- buttons at a defined increment
- Well-suited for: precise entries, large value ranges
Slider
The slider offers an intuitive, visual selection:
- Visual slider for intuitive value selection
- Prominently displays the current value
- Adheres to the defined increment
- Invalid values are visually highlighted
- Value is applied when the slider is released
- Requires min and max values
- Well suited for: Sizes, dimensions, quantities with a limited range
The slider display type only works for characteristics with defined minimum and maximum values. The slider is not available for calculated numeric characteristics.
Notes on Invalid Numbers
If the entered value falls outside the minimum and maximum values, does not match the increment, or violates a validity rule, a note appears below the characteristic.
When setting the increment, make sure it matches the minimum value: The valid values are counted in increments starting from the minimum value. For a minimum value of 100 and an increment of 1.85, 100, 101.85, and 103.70 are valid, but 101 is not. If necessary, adjust the decimal places so that the valid values can be entered at all.
How do I use number inputs in Regeln?
A number input can be used in rules where, for example, you enter intervals such as "1-10." For more details, see entsprechenden Seite.
