How can I restrict rules to certain steps?

In principle, all rule lines apply regardless of the current step in the configurator. However, you can specify that certain rule lines are only valid in certain steps.

This is useful for:

  • Pictures: An image should only be displayed in a specific step
  • Actions: An action should only be executed under certain step conditions

Prerequisites

  • You have created a configurator.
  • You have created a rule with at least one rule line.

Add step column

  • Open the desired rule in the editor.
  • Click on the down arrow at the top right behind Features.
  • Select Steps.
  • Select the desired step in the following selection and confirm.
  • A new column appears for the selected step.
tip

You can add several steps as columns in order to configure rule rows differently for different steps.

Restrict rule lines to steps

In the new step column, you can specify for each rule line whether it should apply in this step:

SettingMeaning
ActiveThe rule line only applies in this step
Not activeThe rule line applies in all other steps, except this one
(empty)The rule line applies independently of this step

Example: Display image in one step only

Suppose you only want to display a product image in the "Color" step:

  1. Open the rule that assigns the image.
  2. Add the step column for "Color".
  3. In the row with the image, set the step to Active.
  4. The image is now only displayed if the customer is in the "Color" step.
