Can I also specify which product components are currently available?

It may also be the case that it is not the customer, but the product structure itself that determines which components are available. In the simplest case, imagine a table that can have either 4 legs or 2 side panels. You’d like to determine this based on the “Base Structure” selection. The customer should not be able to add a 5th table leg.

The Solution: Populating Component Attributes

  • In the Editor, click on
    Loading...
    in the sidebar
  • Click on
    Loading...
  • Enter a Name and, optionally, a Description
  • Click on
    Loading...
  • Click on
    Loading...
  • Check the box next to Populate Component Features
  • Select the component list to be populated.
  • The last item in the sidebar is Feature Combinations. Check the box.
  • Under Characteristics, select all the characteristics that determine how the component list is populated.
  • Click
    Loading...
  • Now you can enter the combinations and specify after each one which components should be added to the component list. You can also enter the quantity for each one and even have the system calculate it for you.
The "Add" button disappears

As soon as an active rule populates the component list, the Add button is hidden in the list— after all, the customer is not supposed to expand the predefined structure themselves. If you set the rule back to inactive, the button reappears.
