Image in HTML element is not displaying
Question
> I've embedded an image in an HTML element, but it's not displaying. The rest of the HTML code appears to be correct.
Answer
The most common cause is an invalid value in the src attribute of the <img> tag. The src attribute expects a complete URL—that is, a web address where the image is publicly accessible.
What Constitutes a Valid Image URL
The image must be hosted on a web server and accessible via a URL, e.g.:
<img src="https://www.meine-website.de/bilder/produkt.jpg" alt="Produktbild" />
Common Sources of Errors
| What Was Entered | Problem |
|---|---|
4145weiß or similar item numbers | No URL—the browser cannot find the image |
C:\Bilder\produkt.jpg | Local file path—not accessible in the browser |
/bilder/produkt.jpg | Relative path – only works if the image is on the same server |
How to Upload an Image
If the image is not yet online, you have two options:
- Upload the image to K3: Use an image element in the configurator. K3 will then automatically generate a URL that you can copy and use in the
srcattribute. - Upload the image to your own website: Upload the image via your CMS (e.g., Shopify, Shopware, WordPress) and copy the displayed URL.
Why does the image have to be hosted on a server?
A configurator runs in the end customer’s browser. The browser can only access images that are available via a publicly accessible URL —local file paths or internal network paths are not visible to the browser.
