Display feature only for certain selection

Question

> I have standard lengths for the products and you can also enter a special length. The feature "special length" should only be displayed and filled with data if "special length" is selected instead of the standard length.

Answer

You can achieve this with a rule action of the type "Hide characteristics". Proceed as follows:

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Click on "Rules " in the sidebar of the configurator editor on the left.

  2. Click on "New action rule " at the top right.

  3. Enter a name, e.g. "Hide special length" and click on "Create rule".

  4. Click on "Characteristics " on the right. Now select the feature that controls the hiding of "Special length" - i.e. "Installation length" - and click on "Ok".

  5. Click on "Add action " on the right. Now select the desired action: "Hide features ".

  6. You now have a rule table with two columns in front of you. In the rows, you can hide various features for different selections of "Installation length".

  7. Create a row by clicking on "Select values" in the "Installation length" column. Select the value "Special length". If you then click on the background, the row is created.

  8. Click on "Select features " in the row and select the feature you want to hide: "Special length".

That's it! Now go to the Preview and check the result.

Understanding the logic

The logic works "in reverse" here: You define when the feature should be hidden (namely for all standard lengths). If "Special length" is selected, the rule does not apply - and the input field for the special length is displayed.
